Shark River Bascule Bridge –
Belmar, NJ
Skilled burners torch cut a section of the heavy bascule bridge end girder. Careful rigging and accurate load calculations are required to lower the girder and attached deck section safely. A flame retardant tarp has been attached to the back of the girder to prevent torch sparks and slag from falling onto pleasure boats in the channel below.
